About the Event
A workshop where you can choose between making a beautiful rag wreath or learn how to rag rug cushion. You will have a choice of shapes, you can contact prior to the workshop for your preferences.
Such a traditional craft, rag rugs were made using old clothing such as coats, trousers and thick fabrics. Cottons were saved for quilting, but nothing went to waste. Often seen more around mining communities these rags were originally a very practical way of recycling. They usually had a dark border supposed ti ward off evil spirits, but today the craft sees many different designs both abstract and nature based. These crafts are such a mindful craft to learn and relax the mind.
Wreaths have been around since ancient pagan times and are in german and scandanavian cultures. Wreaths have also symbolized nature and have been used to honour the return of the sun and the promise of spring.
Recycling scraps and used fabrics in this way makes a new and treasured craft for your home. We can add fabrics if your choice these days to create a design and colour palette bespoke to you.
